Review by Morecambe fan Ollie
Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
To Morecambe fans, this fixture is considered a derby.
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
Train to Accrington. 15-20 minutes walk but a lot is uphill so may be better to get a car if you struggle.
What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?
Good prices and a great variety.
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
We were in the no roof terrace. Good view from the back of the terrace.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
Stanley fans were not a loud bunch. Morecambe were decent but louder than the home ‘supporters’.
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
Didn’t speak to anyone so 0/10?
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
A lot of police diversions in place so took around an hour to get back to the train station.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
£45. We won so I’m happy. Would not recommend the no roof terrace and if you want to go there, make sure you bring something rain prepared. I made that mistake and got soaked.
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
Yes. Definitely.

Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
We’ve never been before and it’s only an hour away from where we live.
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
We travelled by car. Easy peasy.
If you drove, was it easy to find car parking and make your way to the stadium?
Car parking right next to the ground. Donations asked for, which we duly gave.
What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?
Decent. Pukka pies and Bovril is footy heaven.
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
View was great. We were in coppice stand behind goal, standing only. There is also a covered area for away fans but we like to stand.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
The atmosphere was brilliant!
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
10/10 for the ones we met.
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
Usual queues of traffic until you got away from ground.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
£100. Worth every penny.
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
Yes. Lovely compact ground. Very close to the action. Toilets were 1/10, especially the ladies. Shame it rained all day but that didn’t detract from a great away day. Loved the fact that Accrington gave us 1900 tickets. A lot of other so called bigger clubs have given us far smaller allocation. Thanks Stanley. Cracking day.

Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
We have never been to Accrington Stanley, so when the fixtures came out we earmarked this fixture as one of our few away days of the season.
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
We travelled by car. We used the postcode BB5 5BX in our sat nav once we hit Accrington and it led us straight there through an housing estate which seem to cut out a lot of the heavy traffic.
If you drove, was it easy to find car parking and make your way to the stadium?
We parked next to the stadium in a car park for a girls football team who just wanted a donation. It is steward controlled and worthy of a decent donation as we had no trouble parking or getting out of the ground. The volunteers were pleasant and helpful.
Where did you eat on your away day and was it good value?
We had a pie and a cup of tea in the ground. It was good value for money.
What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?
There was plenty of choice and reasonably priced. The pie and tea were both nice and just what we needed on a cold day.
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
Great away end with great views. We were in the seated stand. There is only 6 rows and allowed to stand up on the back row.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
Great atmosphere. The small ground keeps the noise in the ground which helps lift the team.
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
10/10!
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
Very easy. Just be wary of the traffic outside the ground. The coaches have to park on the road, so they partially block it.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
£20 for the match ticket. £5 for food and drink. Great value.
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
Yes. It is a nice small ground with a great atmosphere. The stewards and staff are friendly.
Is there anything else you want to tell us about your day?
We won 2-1, so it was a great day for us. For a small ground it’s got good facilities and is clean. Overall it exceeded my expectations.

Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
It was a last minute decision to make the trip up to Accrington!
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
We travelled by car and the journey was fairly routine. Most of it was on the motorway up North.
If you drove, was it easy to find car parking and make your way to the stadium?
Very easy. You can park on streets around the stadium, and we were less than a five minute walk away. Ground staff were helpful in finding parking and very friendly.
Which pubs did you go to before the game and what was the atmosphere like?
The Grey Horse pub. The staff were very friendly, and they had football on multiple TV’s. They also had a pool table and we were allowed to bring in food from the chippy across the road.
Where did you eat on your away day and was it good value?
Chip shop across the road from the Grey Horse pub, which is about a 5 minute walk from the stadium.
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
The away end has its pros and cons. Pros: You are very close to the action, even at the back of the terrace you’re within metres of the pitch. Cons: I went in late October and it was freezing cold. It’s pretty hard to make an atmosphere and the stadium was in the open.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
Good. There was banter between both sets of fans, so it was an enjoyable experience.
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
8/10 – No trouble, and had some laughs and chats with some home fans in the pub. A nice atmosphere.
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
Walking to the car was fine as we parked on a street a few minutes away. Took 15 or so minutes to get out of traffic and on our way back.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
Ticket was £20. Fuel cost me £40 and then £30 or so on food and drinks so roughly £90. I enjoyed the day out so I would say it was worth it.
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
If you are up for being freezing cold at an old style football ground, absolutely!
Review by Bradford City fan Lisa Carmichael
Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
I always follow my team to as many away games as I can.
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
We travelled by car.
If you drove, was it easy to find car parking and make your way to the stadium?
Parking is not the best at this ground, as there are no car parks for away fans. There is just on street parking.
What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?
I enjoyed a nice cup of tea, but there was lots of food choice for fans such as burgers, chips etc.
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
We sat in the new stand that has just been opened to away supporters. It was covered and the view was excellent.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
Because it is a compact ground, the atmosphere was pretty good.
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
9/10
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
Took about 10 mins to get away from ground but once we were away, we were soon on the motorway.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
Probably about £70 and I felt it was good value even though we got a right drubbing!
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
Yes. All in all our trip to Accrington was hassle free and if we had wanted to eat and drink there were plenty of options in the town centre.
Is there anything else you want to tell other away fans about your day?
The stewards at the ground gave us a warm friendly welcome and managed to not laugh in our faces on the way out.
