Review by MK Dons fan Pete Williams
Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
There are some games that as a supporter you must win and this is one of them.
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
By coach and the journey was quite easy passing through London on a Saturday morning.
Which pubs did you go to before the game and what was the atmosphere like?
As we went by coach we had no option but to just queue up to get in, so didn’t go in any pubs. Atmosphere was electric even though we saw no home fans.
What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?
Had already eaten on the coach but had a £6-80 pint of beer at the ground. Good beer but not worth the price. Some other fans said the pies were just warm and everyone mentioned the high cost of food & drink
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
Good views and the toilets were actually very good with warm water & working air dryers.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
We were kept waiting outside the ground in the pouring rain before they allowed us in just 50 minutes before kick-off. Searched before entering which I can understand but just 2 people doing it. Also just the 2 turnstiles open and it all meant the kick off had to be delayed. The home fans hate us and we hate them so the atmosphere was always electric. The stewards were awful in that they caused problems in trying to send people to certain sections of the stand. During the game the stadium announcer refused to mention any of our substitutes when they come on and after stating the total attendance, just mentioned the home number. Petty & pathetic but totally in line with the ethos of this club. They scored a very late goal to win the game and at the end of it their players must have thought they had won the FA Cup the way they celebrated. Doing so in front of our fans could have caused a lot of trouble.
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
0/10 – to be expected in a fierce rivalry.
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
Kept behind for about 40 minutes and then it was a long journey back through London.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
Spent approximately £60 which is about average apart from the cost of a pint.
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
100% no, although it may only be our fans that are treated like animals.
