Review by Norwich City fan Callum
Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
I go to quite a lot of Norwich matches however the Emirates is a ground that I love. I went previously in the cup and I wanted to see what it was like in a league game.
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
I used the Norwich fan coaches, trip was fairly smooth however the traffic getting in and out of the Emirates is quite busy and it can take a while to get there when it is only a couple of miles. The parking options for coaches were awful.
Which pubs did you go to before the game and what was the atmosphere like?
The usual pub for the away fans was closed for refurbishment so the police suggested that we went near Liverpool street which obviously wasnt an option since we got the coach. Concourse was OK though.
Where did you eat on your away day and was it good value?
We got pies in the concourse, they were £4 which is alright for London however I think it was £6.20 per pint.
What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?
The pie was good, there weren’t too many options but can’t complain.
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
It was good – unlike old grounds there are no pillars anywhere so even though we were in the corner we could see well. The rows aren’t as steep as some but I could see fine and I am not very tall. It is quite spacious for a football ground which is nice.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
Arsenal fans were pretty poor – few chants here and there but the away end was far louder.
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
6/10.
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
Took a little while, but once we were away from the ground it was OK. The place where the coaches get out is very crowded with people walking away so it is hard for them.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
Around £45 which I thought was really good.
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
Yes, fantastic ground!
Review by Brighton & Hove Albion fan Vaughan Storm
Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
Great stadium and because it is in London it is one of the closest Brighton away games to go to.
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
We got the train then the Tube which was very easy. The train to Victoria is direct from my local station. We got off at Highbury and Islington.
If you got the train, how easy did you find it to make your way to the stadium from the station?
It was an easy 15 minute walk. You go down a long road before turning near Holloway Road Station which I believe is closed on a matchday.
Which pubs did you go to before the game and what was the atmosphere like?
The Famous Cock Tavern. It is right beside Highbury and Islington station and is quite busy but not really much of an atmosphere.
Where did you eat on your away day and was it good value?
We had a Mexican at Victoria Station which was good value.
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
Poor. The steps are really low in height so I had to be on my tiptoes for the majority of the game. The concourse was spacious and modern but having the corner of the ground is always poor.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
Very poor from the home fans as they were very quiet even when they were ahead. Brighton away ends are always rocking!
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
3/10. The Police were getting involved all over the place and they weren’t nice at the final whistle. Not surprised because we stopped them from being in the Champions League!
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
Very easy, no queues. Wish we had metro services down south. It helps when the fans are spread out to 3 different stations.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
£80, tickets were £40 for me and my dad (£30 adult, £10 Under 18) £20 for the London day pass, £4 for programme and the rest on food.
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
Yes!
