FLEETWOOD TOWN

Highbury Stadium (capacity 5,327)

Highbury Stadium, home to Fleetwood Town since 1939, has been completely redeveloped in the last decade due to the club’s meteoric rise, winning six promotions in the last ten years. Despite the development, the capacity of just 5,327 is the third smallest in the four tiers of English football.

The Parkside Stand looks very impressive, with a 2,000 seater stand, executive boxes, and hospitality area covered by a nicely designed semi-circular roof. Opposite this is the Highbury Stand, which is a much smaller all seated stand that only runs half the length of the pitch and has only 6 rows. Both ends behind the goals are covered terraces.

Away fans visiting Highbury Stadium are split between two stands should there be enough demand. The majority are located in the Percy Ronson terrace, where just over 800 supporters can be housed with 300 in the Parkside Stand.

There is very limited parking available at the stadium, so away fans are advised to either park in the surrounding streets where there is good availability, or in one of Fleetwood’s council owned car parks.

We’ve compiled a list of car parks, below, near to Highbury Stadium for hassle free parking while you’re at the match.

Car Park Sat Nav Cost Distance to Ground Description
Central Car Park FY7 6RF Free 1.3km There are 145 free parking spaces available at Central Car Park which is just off Promenade Road, so make sure to get here early before it fills up. It’s around a 15 minute walk to the stadium from here.
Marine Hall and Leisure Centre Car Park FY7 6HF Free 1.4km 164 parking spaces are available next to Marine Hall, and the local Leisure Centre. From here, it’s around a 15-20 minute walk to the stadium.
Gordon Road (street parking) FY7 6UF Free 0.2km Gordon Road is to the West of Highbury Stadium, and this is a popular parking option for away fans. However, cars are left at your own risk as the area is not patrolled.
Addison Road (street parking) FY7 6UH Free 0.3km Addison Street sits behind Gordon Street, and is another parking option for away fans. Again, cars are left at your own risk.

Fleetwood does not have a railway station itself, which means the closest station is actually Poulton-le-Fylde. At just over 5 miles away, this is the furthest distance from the nearest station to stadium in the entire football league.

Realistically, rather than Poulton-le-Flyde, away fans will arrive in to Blackpool North which is even further away and certainly not within walking distance. A taxi from here will cost around £20, which may be a cost effective option if you are in a group of 4. The other option is to take the number 1 or number 14 bus, which run regularly to Fleetwood, with a journey time of around 30 minutes.

To find the number 14 bus stop, walk up to Talbot Road, passing Wilkinson’s store, and cross the road once you reach the Station Pub. You will find the bus station outside the Home Bargains store. For the number 1 bus stop, walk to the Promenade, and head for the North Pier where you will find the bus stop at the end of the tram shelter.
