New York Stadium (capacity 12,021)
Rotherham United’s New York Stadium is the newest stadium in the football league and the 2nd newest in England, behind West Ham’s Olympic Stadium. The Millers moved there in 2012 after spending four years at the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield. This followed over a century spent playing at Millmoor.
The stadium is all-seater and totally enclosed, with a design that makes it look larger from the outside than the 12,000 capacity would suggest. The largest stand is the West Stand, which has an unusual feature of the middle section of seats being sunk beneath those that surround it on either side.
Away fans visiting the New York Stadium are normally located in the Mears South Stand behind the goal, with a typical allocation of around 2,500. For smaller followings, a small section of the Ben Bennett Stand is allocated instead.
Car parking at the stadium is for permit holders only. However there are a few pay & display car parks located in the town centre. Otherwise there is some street parking available around the old Millmoor stadium, around a 15 minute walk away from the away fans turnstiles.
We’ve compiled a list of car parks, below, near to the New York Stadium for hassle free parking while you’re at the match.
|Car Park||Sat Nav||Cost||Distance to Ground||Description|
|Rotherham Interchange||S60 1RD||£6.50||1.0km||Situated a short walk away from the New York stadium, the Interchange multi-storey car park is a popular choice for away fans to park. It has almost 700 spaces but these will fill up quickly on match day so make sure you arrive early to avoid disappointment.|
|Sheffield Road Car Park||S60 1BD||£1.80||1.3km||There is a pay and display car park on Sheffield Road which is around a 10-15 minute walk to the New York Stadium, and is relatively inexpensive, making it a popular choice with visiting fans.|
|Millmoor Ground – Street Parking||S60 1HR||Free||0.8km||Limited street parking is available near the site of the old stadium, Millmoor, on Masbrough Street. However, make sure you’re aware of the parking restrictions and vehicles are left at your own risk.|
Rotherham Central is just a 5 minute walk from the New York Stadium, which is very conveniently located for away fans. When you exit the station, turn right on to Central Road. Continue on this road, by the river edge, all the way past the Magistrates Court until you reach the Main Street T-Junction. Take a left on to Main Street, then an immediate right on to Don Street. Follow this road around and you will see the stadium on your right.
