Glanford Park (capacity 9,088)
Glanford Park has been home to Scunthorpe United since 1988, when the club left the Old Show Ground, making it the first new football league stadium to be built since the Second World War. The stadium is actually based in Glanford, so when the local council of Glanford provided a small amount of funding, the club named the stadium Glanford Park.
The stadium itself is quite a simple design, with all four stands being equal in height and of similar appearance. The corners are filled in although they are not used for supporters. The Britcon Stand behind one of the goals is the only terraced stand, with the others being all seated.
Away fans visiting Glanford Park are located in the South Stand, behind the goal, with a typical allocation of 1,700.
There is a car park at Glanford Park Stadium itself, holding up to 600 cars. However, there are a number of pay and display council owned car parks in Scunthorpe that fans may wish to park in.
We’ve compiled a list of car parks, below, near to Glanford Park for hassle free parking while you’re at the match.
|Car Park||Sat Nav||Cost||Distance to Ground||Description|
|Glanford Park Car Park||DN15 8TD||£3||0.1km||The car park at Glanford Road has 600 spaces, and is a very reasonable cost at just £3. As you might imagine, there can be a bit of a delay trying to get away from the stadium after the game because of the matchday traffic.|
Scunthorpe Railway Station is just over two miles away from Glanford Park, so the majority of away fans opt to take a taxi to the stadium.
However, if you are feeling more energetic, it is walkable within about 40 minutes. Upon exiting the station, turn left on to Station Road and continue until you reach the crossroads. Turn right on to Oswald Road, going past a set of traffic lights as well as the Honest Lawyer and Blue Bell pubs. At the next set of traffic lights, turn right on to Doncaster Road. At this point you can either catch the number 909 bus to the stadium or keeping walking along this road for around a mile until you reach Glanford Park.
