Review by Derby County fan Sam Richardson
Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
I love a midweek game and never been to Blackpool away or Blackpool itself (if you haven’t been definitely avoid!)
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
I travelled by car 2 and a half hours so not terrible parked in a rough area but all of Blackpool is rough so i’d say in one of the nicest parts from what I saw.
If you drove, was it easy to find car parking and make your way to the stadium?
I booked parking in advance, stadium was easy to locate.
Which pubs did you go to before the game and what was the atmosphere like?
The Manchester, which was lively!
Where did you eat on your away day and was it good value?
We ate at Nando’s which wasn’t bad value.
What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?
We didn’t even attempt it as they had one small counter for 2,000 Derby fans.
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
It’s an awful away end, down the side of the goal for starters, temporary stand, columns obstructing view and random scaffolding on the columns just to obstruct the view some more for good measure.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
7/10 – no noise from Blackpool and all was made by us.
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
5/10.
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
25 minute walk back to car and then straight out.
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
No, I wasn’t a fan of Blackpool itself.

Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
Bigged up by everyone as best away day in the EFL, hadn’t done it up until that point so thought I’d give it a shot!
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
Drove the long 5 hours up with lots of problems on motorway meaning we had to drive through Preston. The traffic was absolutely terrible.
If you drove, was it easy to find car parking and make your way to the stadium?
Parking was difficult to find, not enough of it as it was all full when we got there. Eventually found a spot though.
Which pubs did you go to before the game and what was the atmosphere like?
Went into 2 pubs, one was a kid friendly pub and the other had good atmosphere, called ‘The Manchester’.
Where did you eat on your away day and was it good value?
Went to a Wetherspoons next to the first pier. Loads of home fans there and it was absolutely packed (as expected from Blackpool especially when air shows are on).
What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?
Didn’t try food or drink there as it’s a very small bar area with about 1,500 fans to serve.
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
Away end is nothing special as it was supposed to be temporary but kept since but it’s an alright view of the pitch.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
Away end bouncing, home fans weren’t great but had their moments!
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
No problems at all. 10/10.
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
Police make you walk all the way around the streets etc even though there was a lane directly to our car. When arrived at the car we waited a bit for traffic to subside and didn’t find it too bad leaving stadium.
If you stayed over, where did you stay and was it convenient for getting to the stadium?
Stayed in Preston Marriot Hotel as we left it too late to book in Blackpool. Hotel was good and it wasn’t too bad to get there either.
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
This is a must visit away day at least once just to have the excuse of visiting Blackpool.

Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
Bank holiday weekend in Blackpool and a game to boot.
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
Car – just a little over 2 hours (set off before 8am) so missed most of the traffic.
If you drove, was it easy to find car parking and make your way to the stadium?
Easy as pie. Big car park just 10min walk away.
Which pubs did you go to before the game and what was the atmosphere like?
A Wetherspoons called The Velvet Coaster.
Where did you eat on your away day and was it good value?
We ate in the Velvet Coaster as it was so cheap.
What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?
Poor – NO BEER!!
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
Nothing wrong other than I know some fans had views of the columns supporting the temp stands roof.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
Rocking, credit to Blackpool fans too, when compared with the fans at Bournemouth (quiet and need clappers to make noise – what’s that about AFCB fans?)
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
No issues with them at all so 10/10.
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
Easy as was staying the weekend.
If you stayed over, where did you stay and was it convenient for getting to the stadium?
Premier Inn and yes, very convenient.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
£12 on Electric (Tesla), £25 for the ticket, £10 for Parking for the day (12 hours).
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
Yes, definitely.
