Review by Carlisle United fan John Geeson

Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?

Had tickets for England v Ireland game on the Sunday so a great opportunity to see Carlisle United as well.

How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?

Train to Euston, tube to Victoria then train to Bromley South.

If you got the train, how easy did you find it to make your way to the stadium from the station?

The ground is about 15 minutes walk from the station, so fairly easy.

Which pubs did you go to before the game and what was the atmosphere like?

Wetherspoons across the road from the station.

Which pubs did you go to before the game and what was the atmosphere like?

Wetherspoons across the road from the station.

Where did you eat on your away day and was it good value?

A bottle of beer cost £6 which is frankly outrageous although a cup of coffee at £1.50 is very good value. I had a cheeseburger for £6 which was just about cooked. The main complaint is that there is just one kiosk for all the away fans and therefore the queue was always very long.

What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?

Ate in the Wetherspoons outside Euston station – decent breakfast at reasonable prices.

What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?

Very small away end split in two with around 250 seated in the corner behind the goal and 250 standing to the side.

What was the atmosphere like during the match?

Atmosphere was a bit flat, the more vocal Carlisle fans couldn’t get tickets with such a small allocation. Home fans very quiet.

How friendly were the home fans out of 10?

Didn’t have much contact with home fans although I chatted with one in the pub after the game and he was friendly enough.

How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?

No trouble at all.

If you stayed over, where did you stay and was it convenient for getting to the stadium?

Stayed at the Premier Inn just around the corner from the station and Wetherspoons, so it was quite handy.

How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?

Difficult to cost due to also going to the England game. £180 for train tickets for 3, match tickets £20 each, £140 for hotel (London prices) plus whatever we spent on drinks and food. Expensive weekend but very enjoyable.

Would you recommend this away day to other fans?

If you go, be prepared to queue for the toilets in ground. There were only 4 urinals and 1 cubicle for gents and only 1 cubicle for ladies.

Review by MK Dons fan Pete Williams

Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?

Following a bout of Covid and a Holiday this was my first chance to watch the Dons away this season and it’s a ground I have never visited before.

How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?

Travelled by coach so journey was easy apart from the normal jams on the M25. Parked right next door to the away turnstiles so not even a long walk after the journey.

What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?

A bottle of beer cost £6 which is frankly outrageous although a cup of coffee at £1.50 is very good value. I had a cheeseburger for £6 which was just about cooked. The main complaint is that there is just one kiosk for all the away fans and therefore the queue was always very long.

What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?

I was standing on the uncovered terrace which has a good view apart from the fact you can’t see anything of one corner of the pitch. Luckily it was good weather otherwise we would have got soaked.

What was the atmosphere like during the match?

Good atmosphere considering most of our fans were in an uncovered stand. We heard some AFC fans were in the home end as their game was postponed which added to the atmosphere.

How friendly were the home fans out of 10?

The ones I spoke to were 8/10 but some of their junior fans reduced that to 3/10.

How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?

Very good although being in London meant long delays getting back to the M25.

How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?

Approximately £55 and good value apart from the cost of a bottle of beer!

Would you recommend this away day to other fans?

This is a very good non-league ground although they do have plans to improve it in the future. We sold out our allocation so if the same applies to other clubs, then be prepared to queue for food & drink and hope it doesn’t rain. The stewards are very good though.
