Review by Ipswich Town fan Jamie Green

Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?

I went to see Ipswich town at Cambridge in the Papa Johns Trophy group stage. I was looking forward to attending another away day.

How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?

I drove from Essex. It is a relatively easy drive from there with options to go cross country or take the A120/M11 which is longer but ultimately a faster route to Cambridge.

If you drove, was it easy to find car parking and make your way to the stadium?

I parked at the Park & Ride, It was approximately 15-20 minute walk to the ground from there which isn’t too bad.

Where did you eat on your away day and was it good value?

I ate a cheeseburger at the ground which was alright, not the greatest but quick and easy for the type of ground the Abbey Stadium is.

What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?

Again it is quick and easy, not the most flavourful, I would recommend finding a McDonalds or Nandos pre match rather than eat on site.

What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?

The away end had really good span and an incredible view of the pitch. It is set further back than the home stands but you get a really good perspective from higher up in the stand.

What was the atmosphere like during the match?

The atmosphere was a little flat from the Cambridge supporters until they scored. Ipswich out sung them at every turn including some playful banter chanting towards a larger Cambridge fan.

How friendly were the home fans out of 10?

8/10. I didn’t have any issue with the Cambridge fans.

How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?

Very easy, no delays at all leaving the stand and straight back to the car park.

How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?

The park and ride was around £4.50 for the evening which wasn’t to bad and I paid a tenner for our ticket for the cup game so it wasn’t particularly expensive.

Would you recommend this away day to other fans?

Absolutely!
