Review by Middlesbrough fan Alan Christison

Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?

Meeting up with family who had travelled down from Middlesbrough area. Hadn’t been to Cardiff City stadium before.

How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?

Travelled by train from home in Surrey. 3 train changes, but advance planning made it easy journey.

If you got the train, how easy did you find it to make your way to the stadium from the station?

I chose to include in my train fare for a local train from Cardiff central station to Grangetown station in order to make for a shorter walk to the stadium. It was an easy walk from Grangetown to the stadium which was made even easier by a Cardiff fan who kindly pointed me in the right direction.

What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?

Plenty of food & drink outlets in a large well organised concourse for away supporters. Typical prices for a football stadium. I got a burger.

What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?

Away supporters are accommodated in a safe standing/seating area with a good view of the pitch. Was a little disappointed to be located off to one side and corner of the pitch rather than behind goal.

What was the atmosphere like during the match?

General atmosphere was very subdued, probably due to Cardiff’s poor start to the season. Made worse by Middlesbrough winning the game. Away supporters atmosphere terrific of course.

How friendly were the home fans out of 10?

Normal friendly banter inside ground, where segregation between fans was good. A friendly home fan helped me with directions from the station. 9/10.

How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?

Easy walk back to Grangetown station.

How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?

£65 total including match ticket, train fare, burger at ground, snack and beer on way home. Very good value for money.

Is there anything else you want to tell us about your day?

Security check at stadium entrance wouldn’t let me take in a 500 ml bottle of water because I’d opened it and had a sip out of it!

Review by Preston North End fan Neil

Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?

I was looking to meet up with a mate at an away game and this one fell at the right time.

How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?

We drove. It’s a long way but easy enough.

If you drove, was it easy to find car parking and make your way to the stadium?

Parked in the city centre as I was staying there and walked out to the stadium. Easy walk, about 20 minutes or so.

Which pubs did you go to before the game and what was the atmosphere like?

Found a pub in the city centre for a pint. It was alright.

Where did you eat on your away day and was it good value?

Went for a curry on the way back from the stadium into town. Great food, great value.

What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?

Beer and cider was passable. Didn’t eat anything though.

What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?

Safe seating/standing in the corner was good. View was ok, although I prefer not to be in the corner, but at least it was close to the pitch.

What was the atmosphere like during the match?

Ok. Cardiff weren’t overly loud and neither were we, but to be fair it wasn’t a great game for either team.

How friendly were the home fans out of 10?

Really nice, no bother and lots of families. 10/10.

How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?

Really easy. Just walked there and back from town as was staying over.

If you stayed over, where did you stay and was it convenient for getting to the stadium?

Radisson was having a sale and it was easy to get there.

How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?

Fair play to Cardiff with tickets at a proper price of £19. Hotel was £50, food about £20, fuel about £50. Beer ???

Would you recommend this away day to other fans?

Yes, great city, good club.
