Review by Plymouth Argyle fan Ben Yeoman
Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
I chose to go to this game since it was a close one for us even though it’s still a 300-mile round trip. It was also a Boxing Day game! I was looking forward to the game since it’s new ground for me and Plymouth Argyle are on form!
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
We travelled to the game by car and it was very easy to get to.
If you drove, was it easy to find car parking and make your way to the stadium?
We looked on here for car parking and when we got close to the stadium we used street parking as there were lots available!
What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?
They offered hot and soft drinks which were fine for me since I was driving but they don’t offer acholic drinks. Also, I didn’t have any food myself but someone ordered cheesy chips and got chunky chips with two slices of plastic burger cheese on top.
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
Away end was very good. View was brilliant as we were sat behind the goal. Was a bit grubby with bird poo on some seats and also no allocated seating which could cause problems with sold-out games.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
The atmosphere was amazing for the away end since we sold out. Home fans on the other hand…. very quiet. They had a group of about 40 singing down the opposite end.
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
10/10 – no abuse.
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
Very good. We Walked straight out of the game through streets to the car.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
£26 for a ticket – Quite expensive.
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
Yeah was a good day out!
Review by Crewe Alexandra fan Mark Kirkham
Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
We are Alex supporting exiles living in Worcester so this is our nearest chance to see the Alex in the flesh.
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
Drove to the stadium and arrived at 1.30pm. We parked in the nearby club car park. Go past away end entrance on the left and take a left turn and then go into club about 300 metres on left £5 and 5 mins walk to the away entrance.
Which pubs did you go to before the game and what was the atmosphere like?
We went into the Robins Supporters Club at the ground as we always do. The home fans are always kind and friendly once they realise you don’t support Forest Green! Had a couple of drinks and watched the Sky match along with the locals. All very jocular.
Where did you eat on your away day and was it good value?
In the Robins bar you can order chips and sausage and such from the kitchen but we opted for the large sandwich rolls on the bar. Decent value at £2.50 or so.
What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?
The catering for away supporters is from a hut in the corner of the ground with a limited menu and often not enough supply based on previous years. Go early if you want a pie and don’t bother asking for meat and potato – it doesn’t exist in these parts.
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
Good view which is unobstructed although from front rows the far goal seems a very long way off. Decent toilets too. Stewards all very friendly towards us.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
Great, plenty of banter with the juvenile local ultras in the nearby stand to the right. Not a single full driving licence amongst the lot of them I shouldn’t think. Mostly our games at Cheltenham are meaningless but this year it was top of the table stuff so the home fans were numerous and up for it as we were. Really good atmosphere.
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
8/10 except for the faux Ultra teenage fans who were hilarious in a high pitched kind of way. They get 0/10 for friendliness and -10 for lack of originality.
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
Not too bad. Traffic around the ground a bit lumpy but show me a town centre ground that isn’t a bit over busy around leaving time.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
£100. Yes a good time was had by all.
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
Yes we would. Its a friendly club with decent away facilities and no stupid hassle before or after. We go every year. Hopefully we will both be promoted so we can keep going!
Is there anything else you want to tell us about your day?
We drew. Should have won. But we always say that when we draw 🙂
