Review by Morecambe fan Ollie
Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
I chose this game because of the difference in positions in the table. Morecambe being 10th and Crewe being 3rd and I have family in Crewe so I spent some time with them too.
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
I drove. The roadworks on the M6 are painful to get past but once I was through, easy drive.
If you drove, was it easy to find car parking and make your way to the stadium?
I had already booked parking via JustPark. The car park was a 5 minute walk to the ground so pretty easy. The ground was in plain sight from the car park so it was easy to find our way there.
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
The away end was small, and had a large queue for the toilets at half time. My view was restricted initially so I was moved further down some rows. After that, the view was great.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
They weren’t really singing until they went 1-0 up which is understandable because the game was quite boring but it picked up in the second half after the first goal. Morecambe fans were louder than what I had expected.
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
Didn’t really speak to any, but the stewards were great and passionate so 10/10.
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
Not very. Traffic was rammed so decided to stop at one of my family members house in the town centre.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
Around 60 pounds. Tickets were decent price but TGI Fridays prices are over the top.
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
Definitely.
Review by Stockport County fan Paul
Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
Crewe is pretty close to Stockport and we always try and go. Plus, we were top of the League and Crewe were third so it was a top of the table clash.
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
By car. Very easy, even at rush hour. Took 50 minutes.
If you drove, was it easy to find car parking and make your way to the stadium?
It seems a little known fact, but the B&Q car park is free and is open all night. 5 minute walk to the ground.
Where did you eat on your away day and was it good value?
We ate in the ground. Wright’s pies £4.50, Beef drink(?), Hot chocolate.
What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?
Pies were good, especially the Balti. The Beef drink was dreadful. I guess it was meant to be Bovril but tasted like nothing I have ever tasted. Avoid at all cost!
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
We were given the whole Whitby Morrison stand and the stand behind the goal. Very close to the action. Difficult to see what was going on in the far corner from us, but that is a problem at many grounds.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
Superb. 2100 County fans. Highest attendance for Crewe so far this season. Non stop chanting and singing. Naughty youngsters throwing flares…..again.
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
10 out of 10 for the ones we met.
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
Very easy.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
£130 including 3 tickets, food, and petrol. £27 seems alot for a League 2 match.
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
Definitely.
Is there anything else you want to tell us about your day?
We also like to score the toilets out of 10. The ladies got a 5 and the gents a 4.
Review by Ipswich Town fan Jamie Green
Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
It was the last away day of the season that I could get to.
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
I drove and it wasn’t too bad. There was a little traffic on the M6 but we used the Toll Road.
If you drove, was it easy to find car parking and make your way to the stadium?
It was very easy to park as the ground has a large car park attached to the back which wasn’t too expensive to park up in.
Where did you eat on your away day and was it good value?
We ate in the ground. It wasn’t great but typical football food.
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
The away end had posts for the higher up seats but lower down wasn’t too bad. However, you lost perspective of the ball lower down so both views were slightly flawed.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
The atmosphere was very flat from both clubs. It was a very dull affair with a 1-1 draw.
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
1/10 – A group of “Ultras” left the home end early and waited for us to leave. Me and my mate got pushed around and even handled by the police mistaking us for these idiots, so I would not travel to Crewe again.
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
It was tough as the “Ultras” were waiting for us after the game. Police didn’t really distinguish us from them and were very hands on.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
Between £50-70.
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
No – the Crewe staff were lovely to us but unfortunately the handling of the post game behaviour left much to be desired – I will not return to Crewe Alexandra.
