Review by QPR fan Conor Martin
Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
Ipswich isn’t far from London on the train and it was the first away day I’ve been able to get to this year so far so was looking forward to the atmosphere/ banter and beer on the train heading up. Plus, there was a good chance we would win given us finding form and Ipswich struggling at home.
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
It was very easy. I got a Metropolitan Line on the Underground from Ruislip Manor to Liverpool Street before getting the train to Ipswich which took just over an hour.
If you got the train, how easy did you find it to make your way to the stadium from the station?
The walk is only a ten minute one at most. It’s straight down opposite the station if you follow the crowds you will not miss it.
Which pubs did you go to before the game and what was the atmosphere like?
The Station Hotel was packed full of QPR fans beforehand. The place was rocking thanks to our fans and the beer garden that allows you to give a bit of the stick to the home fans crossing the bridge to the ground added to the atmosphere. On the downside pint price was no different to London really at a fiver per pint.
What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?
The queue to get drink wasn’t well managed inside the ground. Staff were slow serving the big queues of QPR fans.
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
Excellent view because you’ve a corner angle so you can see the whole pitch.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
Not very good in the home end, and fantastic in the away end. We didn’t stop singing for the whole game. There was many a hoarse voice and bruised hands from banging by the end of the game.
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
7/10
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
It was very easy. There were no queues, so it was very similar to how it was when we arrived in Ipswich.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
£45 in total. Brilliant value!
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
Yes, for sure. It is a great away day and given Ipswich’s home form this year you’ll probably see your team win!
