Review by Burnley fan Ollie Everall

Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?

To find out if the stereotype of Leeds fans was true and because the 2 teams are favorites to win the Championship this year.

How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?

By car. Once you get off the M602, it is at a standstill for most of the remainder of the drive to Elland Road.

If you drove, was it easy to find car parking and make your way to the stadium?

We had found parking on the route my sat nav was taking me. On the same road as the away entrance so decent.

What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?

Good variety.

What was the atmosphere like during the match?

Electric!

How friendly were the home fans out of 10?

5/10, good banter between both sets of fans but ruined the score a bit when my wife was having abuse heckled at her.

How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?

Okay. Just the same as on the way in.

How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?

£80. We beat Leeds so happy days.

Would you recommend this away day to other fans?

Yes, but don’t bring the kids because we had an incident with a few Leeds fans after the game on the way back to the car.

Review by Preston North End fan Scott Dixon

Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?

Not far away just down the M62 and hadn’t been to Elland Road before.

How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?

Drove which was easy enough down the M61-M6.

If you drove, was it easy to find car parking and make your way to the stadium?

Car parks where all full when we arrived and it was absolute chaos on the roads due to road works and fans walking over the roads everywhere. Directions were shocking from stewards to where we could park and ended up with a parking ticket.

What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?

Expensive for what you got. Pints where nearly 6 quid and there wasn’t really many options.

What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?

Absolutely terrible. Crammed on the concourse with barely any staff on. Stewards all thinking they were bouncers. The view was shocking, we were not even in line with the pitch! My view was of Leeds fans half way up their own stand. The stewards seemed to cause more trouble than any fans too!

What was the atmosphere like during the match?

North end fans where exceptional as always but the supposed famous Leeds atmosphere appeared nothing more than a myth. They were quiet most the game.

How friendly were the home fans out of 10?

5/10

How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?

Quite easy as we left before the end as I had a small child with me and didn’t want to get stuck in the post match chaos and traffic.

How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?

Ticket £30
Parking fine £35 – thanks stewards!
Fuel £15 roughly
Drinks £10
Roughly £90 overall
Due to the view absolutely not worth it!

Would you recommend this away day to other fans?

Not at all, save your money, plenty of better grounds to visit.

Review by Brentford fan Simon James

Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?

Easy to get to away fixture for me and had not been to Elland Road for a while.

How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?

Very easy to get to Leeds by train. I travelled from Edinburgh, which takes three hours.

If you got the train, how easy did you find it to make your way to the stadium from the station?

I found out there was a direct bus (R2) to the ground. Was easy to use and cost £3.

Which pubs did you go to before the game and what was the atmosphere like?

There is a dedicated away fans bar (Howard’s Bar) at the ground. Great atmosphere as it was exclusively for the Bees fans.

Where did you eat on your away day and was it good value?

Had a meal in a city centre restaurant after the game as I had a couple of hours before my train left. Was under £20 for a main and a drink, which is my general budget for a meal after the game.

What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?

Had a cheeseburger and a pint at the ground which were perfectly fine.

What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?

Away fans are in one end of the John Charles stand. I was in the Upper Tier and for most of the time had a great view. I did see some stanchions in other parts of the stand that may affect the view slightly.

What was the atmosphere like during the match?

The Brentford support was amazing all game. The away section is adjacent to the loudest home fans in the Norman Hunter / South stand so there was plenty of banter between the two sets.

How friendly were the home fans out of 10?

8/10 – Most of the Leeds fans I met were fine, though I heard accounts of some Bees fans getting hassle before the game.

How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?

You are let out onto Elland Road which was closed off from traffic, so very easy to get out. Police were very visible, so no trouble.

How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?

Including ticket, train fare, food and drink around £80. Good value for a full day out.

Would you recommend this away day to other fans?

Yes!
