Review by Nottingham Forest fan Ethan
Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
I go home and away with Forest.
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
I went down on the coach. It only took 2 hours 40 as it was a Sunday morning trip down South but we had to get off the bus in Highbury and Islington as the Met Police blocked off the road due to remembrance Sunday events but we just got on the over ground and that was no hassle whatsoever.
Which pubs did you go to before the game and what was the atmosphere like?
We went to the Baxter’s Court Wetherspoons in Hackney. There was a good atmosphere from the Forest boys and there was a remembrance march that came past just after 11.
What did you think of the food and drink available inside the ground?
I was pleasantly surprised at the price for a pint – it was the same price as at Forest (£6.50) for a pint of Amstel. However, I was charged 2 different prices on separate occasions – one was £5.50 but the next was £6.50 so that was confusing.
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
Good view of the pitch and the away end was easily found and the stewards were no trouble on the way into the ground when searching people, as it was done quickly.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
Great atmosphere from the Forest fans. The West Ham fans were silent for the majority as it is a soulless bowl down at the London Stadium.
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
5/10.
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
Our coach was parked in the car park right down the steps from the away end so very simple to find.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
£25 match ticket and £26 for the coach.
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
Yeah, it’s always good following your club around the country.
Review by Brighton fan Vaughan Storm
Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
It’s a fairly local away game for Brighton and has decent facilities outside the ground.
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
Train. Very easy to get there, changing at Haywards Heath for a London Bridge train. We had didn’t have much time to wait and the underground is good as always and no changes from London Bridge. On the way back, our train broke down which caused some problems with us rushing to a different platform but apart from that very good.
If you got the train, how easy did you find it to make your way to the stadium from the station?
Quite hard as you have to go through this massive shopping centre but once you are out of there its okay.
Which pubs did you go to before the game and what was the atmosphere like?
The Bat and Ball, for lunch. Not a great atmosphere but it was packed.
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
Okay actually, people say you need binoculars and glasses but it is an over exaggeration, you are quite far away from the pitch but view is still good. The problem is that big gap separating the away fans.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
West Ham didn’t really sing much even when they were ahead, you heard the odd “Come on you iron!” but that’s it. The away end made noise but I don’t know how much of the stadium heard it.
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
5/10. A couple fans got arrested mid game but not any trouble before and after the game.
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
Good, we were filtered through so there wasn’t overcrowding on the trains but at the same time getting people through quickly.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
Around £110: £30 ticket for my dad, £25 ticket for me, £30 on food, £20 on travel and £3.50 for a programme. Tickets are so expensive compared to other clubs which makes this away game over priced.
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
Probably, yes!
Review by Arsenal fan Raph
Why did you choose to go to this game and why were you looking forward to it?
Got my hands on a ticket and followed Arsenal away throughout the season so I had to go.
How did you travel to the game and how easy was it?
Took the underground to the game from North London which is really easy.
If you got the train, how easy did you find it to make your way to the stadium from the station?
Really easy – just a 15 minute walk.
What did you think of the away end and your view of the game?
Shocking as you’re so far away from the pitch and away fans are in two separate tiers but we still managed to keep in fine voice throughout the game. Had a great view of Pepe’s goal.
What was the atmosphere like during the match?
Poor from Hammers after their anthem but great from the Gooners.
How friendly were the home fans out of 10?
5/10. It was a Monday night derby so both sets of fans were at each other.
How easy did you find it to get away from the stadium after the game?
Easy – Arsenal fans went via the back way so 3,000 happy away fans singing on the way to the station. Got there and on the train in 20 minutes.
How much did you spend in total on this away day? Was it good value for money?
£30 on ticket and £7 on travel and drink so not bad for an away day.
Would you recommend this away day to other fans?
Yes! It’s a great area around the stadium. However you don’t get same atmosphere as Boleyn but overall a good evening out.
Is there anything else you want to tell us about your day?
Security isn’t a problem and there are loads of police.
